Director/Accompanist

 

Dr. Sujin Kim is currently in her eight year as Director of Forest-Aires Women’s Chorus. She obtained her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in piano performance at the College-Conservatory of Music, where she received a full scholarship to study piano with Michael Chertock. She holds a master’s degree in piano performance from CCM. Ms. Kim is an active performer, both as a soloist and collaborative pianist, and she enjoys working with people through music. Kim is currently  and working as director of music at Sycamore Presbyterian Church. She resides in Cincinnati with her husband, Noel, and their three sons.

 

 

Korean pianist, Jiwon Son, is an active soloist, collaborative pianist and piano teacher. She holds a Bachelors of Music in piano performance from Ewha Womans University in South Korea. After she completed her studies in Korea, she moved to the United States to continue her studies. She received Master of Music and Artist Diploma in piano performance under the direction of pianist Soyeon Kate Lee from College-Conservatory of Music.

Jiwon began playing a piano when she was 5 years old. She spent nearly over a decade studying piano and competing in South Korea. After she won first prize in state competition at the age of 8, she started expanding her musical expressiveness repertoires intensively. Virtuosic yet lyrical, her introspective style reflects her passion of music but also highly disciplined musicianship.

She participated in masterclasses, and received instruction from notable artists such as Choong Mo Kang, Christopher Harding, Norman Krieger, Roland Vamos, Ran dank, Sandra Rivers, Dror Biran and Vassilis Varvaresos. Notable past performances include Yamaha Artist Concert in Seoul, Bowdoin Music Festival and Ewha Womans University Duo Piano Festival Winners Concert.

She received Outstanding Freshman Scholarship in Ewha University and also she has been supported by the College-Conservatory of Music with full scholarship, Gessner scholarship and Graduate Incentive Award throughout her studies. She has recently joined a faculty member at Xavier University.
