Scholar Biographies

High school students win Forest-Aires Scholarships

          Six high school students have won voice scholarships from The Forest-Aires Women’s Chorus for the 2015-2016 school year.

Student Biographies:

Paige Ambach, a soprano, is a junior at Turpin High School and a second-year scholar.   Paige has participated in numerous theatrical productions, including Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast at Nagel Middle School, Alice in Wonderland and Sound of Music with Broadway for Kids, playing prominent roles in these shows, and Once Upon a Mattress and Grease with the Turpin drama program. Paige has also sung with both the Nagel women’s choir and Turpin freshman, women’s, and mixed choruses.


Gareth Evans, a bass, is a junior at Walnut Hills High School. Gareth participated in the Cincinnati Children’s Young Men’s Choir for three years, and has sung with the Nagel Men’s Choir and various Walnut Hills choruses. He is currently in the Walnut Hills Senior Ensemble and Chamber Choir, and was chosen for the OMEA District XIV Honor Choir. Gareth has also been involved with Walnut Hills productions of Sweeney Todd, Wonderful Town, and Oklahoma, and sings with the charitable a cappella group, For Good Measure. A Boy Scout, he is a member of Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s National Honor Society, where he is Vice Chief of the lodge serving Greater Cincinnati.


Nella Schwanekamp, an alto, is a junior at Indian Hill High School. Nella sang with the Indian Hill Women’s Choir and is currently a member of the Premieres show choir and the Village Voice a cappella group. She has participated in numerous musical theater productions, including Little Mermaid, High School Musical, Once Upon This Island, Fiddler on the Roof, and How to Succeed in Business. She is on the Indian Hill cross country team, and is involved in such charitable activities as Touchdown for Downs, which she chaired this year, and the Partners Club, which pairs its members with disabled high school students. In addition, Nella has studied guitar for 4 years.


Katie Rufner, a second soprano, is a junior at Turpin High School. Katie participated in Nagel Middle School’s Dinner Theater and in their production of Cinderella. She currently sings with the Turpin High School’s Women’s Choir and has recently become a member of the Cincinnati Children’s Girl Choir. Katie has also studied piano for 6 years.


Austin Lamewona, who sings tenor, is a senior at Walnut Hills High School. Austin has been a member of various Walnut Hills choirs, including the Senior Ensemble and the Chamber Choir. He has also been involved in the Walnut Hills theater program, playing Tobias Ragg in Sweeney Todd. Additionally, Austin is the current co-leader of For Good Measure, a charitable a cappella group.


Julianna Drambarean, who sings second soprano and alto, is a two-time Forest-Aires vocal scholarship recipient. Julianna is a junior at Turpin High School and a member of the Turpin High School women’s and mixed choruses. She has also participated in the Turpin Talent Show and in Anderson’s Got Talent on two occasions, both times scoring in the top 10. In addition, Julia has studied piano for 4 years and plays varsity soccer.
