THE OFFER

The Forest-Aires Women’s Chorus has been performing for over sixty years and provides vocal scholarships to talented high school students (grades 9-12) in the greater Cincinnati area. The Forest-Aires offer four scholarships of $1000 for each student with $500 to be used for vocal instruction and $500 to be used at the student’s discretion.

HOW TO APPLY

Any high school student from a qualifying school or high-school-age home-schooled student in a qualifying school district may audition. Students may obtain application materials and register to audition through their high school choral director, voice teacher, guidance counselor or with the Forest-Aires Vice President, Joyce Malek, by email fachorus23@gmail.com or phone (513) 919-2148. Registration deadline is October 1st. Please provide audition evening scheduling conflicts or time constraints when registering. Audition forms must be completed and presented to the Forest-Aires Judges’ Panel at the time of your audition. You will be given your exact audition time by October 9, 2023.

AUDITION EXPECTATIONS AND CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

No scholarships will be awarded without an audition. Students must:

  • Perform a memorized and well-rehearsed vocal selection that showcases the student’s voice and is 2-3 minutes.
  • An accompanist will be provided if you do not have one.  Please bring your music selection with you.
  • Provide a 200-300-word statement responding to the question: “How will this scholarship benefit me?”

Scholars will be chosen based upon talent, ability to benefit from the instruction, and potential for contributing to an organized choral program. Financial need will not be a consideration.
